Romney was on his game, holding tough throughout!
Santorum did well- I actually like his anger. I'm angry too. I get that! I like the man, he just doesn't have the funds organization it would take to win a national election. I am hopeful he will be placed in a meaningful position under a Romney presidency.
Below is the best short summary from the website Big Government, of what went down last night,

Joel Pollak, Editor-in-chief, Breitbart.com:
This was one worth watching. Top ten best moments in the CNN Debate:
9. Santorum giving a sincere, beautiful tribute to his wife–a great answer to a rather awkward question.
8. Romney’s answer to the question about why he was best to beat Obama was flawed, but passionate.
7. Santorum’s answer on religion–insisting our rights come from God–was sincere, relevant, and convincing.
6. Paul’s answer on his age was both funny and cutting; he surpassed Gingrich in confronting CNN by using humor instead of outrage.
5. Romney’s answer on a question about Palestinians was a brilliant articulation of the pro-Israel position and how Obama has let our ally down.
4. Santorum on Romney: ”We cannot give the issue of health care away in this election. It is foundational.” The simple political truth of RomneyCare.
3. Santorum repeatedly pivoted on questions to provide bigger, better answers–particularly when he was the first to criticize Obama’s State of the Union address.
2. Santorum seizes the opportunity to cite his record on Fannie & Freddie, and to attack both Romney and Gingrich for “petty, personal politics.” That set the stage for his win.
1. Romney to Gingrich on illegal immigration: “Our problem is not 11 million grandmothers.” Gingrich never recovered.
If that wasn't enough, The Right Scoop posted the debate in its entirety, here.

I found myself wanting to hit the "like" button as I listened to this. Way to go Romney!
ReplyDeleteWe watched most of the debate and enjoyed it... I did think that Romney finally showed us some 'fire' and 'passion'... That is what has been missing... (We can thank Newt for getting this out of Romney I think...)
ReplyDeleteI didn't care too much for Santorum.. He doesn't do 'anger' very well I don't think...
In my heart, I think that Romney will be our nominee... We shall see.
Hugs,
Betsy
I must say I am not a great follower of the "debate" but I did enjoy last night!I am always interested in your reviews when it is over...thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the re-cap. I am catching up as we missed the debate last night for a much needed date night out.
ReplyDeleteI read today that in the overall Republican poll Gingrich beats Romney right now and in that same poll Gingrich is the least likely to beat Obama, coming in behind Santorum too.
If it is our parties goal to beat Obama I am wondering when Gingrich will step back and just let Romney do the job??? Let him win for the overall good??
I just have to say that I am so sick and tired of Santorum bashing Romney on his health care. I was living in MA when Romney was governor and he did EVERYTHING HE COULD -- absolutely SURROUNDED by democrats -- to pull back the left-wing extremists who are prevalent in MA. Romney's response to his "voting for democrats" (a jab by Gingrich) was spot on and I don't think enough people have caught on to the fact that in MA there is NO ONE ELSE to vote for other than DEMOCRATS. If you have never lived in an uber-liberal state you have NO idea what you are talking about when it comes to how hard it is to get ANYTHING done when you are the ONLY Republican. Romney did an INCREDIBLE job with what he had to work with -- and he has tried to get that message across, but it is hard for people to understand if you live in a conservative state or a more mixed/balanced state. I remember how remarkable it was to go to the voting booth and there would be MAYBE two Republicans on the ENTIRE ticket...including all local offices. Massachusetts is beyond liberal. If you haven't lived there, I can understand how you wouldn't be able to fully understand what Romney was up against. But I wish Santorum would stop the madness on that issue. I completely understood Romney's frustration as Santorum was ranting...on and on.....
ReplyDeleteOk. I'll get off my soap box now. Whew. That felt good! ;-)
I never get a chance to sit through these in full sadly.I don not see much of anything in it's entirety these days! I am always so grateful you post these.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the debate either, so thanks for posting this. And thanks to A-Kap for her comment. I get tired of other conservative bloggers bashing Romney on healthcare too. Her response is perfect. Wish a lot of others could see it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at Mitt, I can see our next president.
I so agree! Go Mitt!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the re-cap, I missed the debate but the talk on news channels was that Mitt was the clear winner. Hoping he seals up FLA
